Artist’s statement: “This collage was created for an assignment where we needed to create an artwork based off a phrase that inspires us. The phrase I chose was “I am inspired by my dreams.” I often dream of the ocean and story lines, and that usually informs what work I produce. For this piece, I was thinking of dreams and their various stories, and how books are full of stories, and so I wanted to include a library of books in the composition. I had fun experimenting with adding these images from papers and magazines and making fun things out of them. It was freeing to use images I didn’t create to form new imagery that didn’t always make sense, much like dreams, which often don’t make sense initially.“
