This dynamic nature study is attributed to the celebrated Japanese master Katsushika Hokusai, one of the most influential figures of the Ukiyo-e tradition during Japan’s Edo period. Known worldwide for works such as The Great Wave off Kanagawa, Hokusai also produced numerous sensitive depictions of flora and fauna that celebrate the changing seasons and the vitality of the natural world.
Presented in a complementary mat that frames the composition elegantly, this work offers collectors an evocative example of Edo-period natural imagery—combining the decorative vitality of ukiyo-e with the intimate beauty of seasonal wildlife.
